St. Thomas: The Railway City

The Elgin County Railway Museum features the exhibit, St. Thomas: The Railway City. Railway employees experienced a lifestyle, not just a job. There were brotherhoods, gatherings, and newsletters specifically for railway employees. The museum’s exhibit strives to convey this distinctive way of life and how St. Thomas came to be called the “Railway Capital of Canada.” It includes: vintage railway maps and photographs, communication appliances, MCRR shop tools, and much more.
