The Elgin County Railway Museum collection to date comprises steam, diesel and electric engines, cabooses, baggage cars and wagons, jiggers, hand cars and thousands of pieces of railway ephemera including books, personal papers, magazines and periodicals, manuals, photographs, transparencies, schedules, tools, lanterns, uniforms, furniture, clocks, dishes and cutlery, blue prints, videos, and much more.

Our archives are accessible to researchers and students through computer terminals in the museum and via our online database at Collection Database. Select the Elgin County Railway Museum from the “Museum” section to access the collection. Photographs and scanned images of pieces in the collection will be viewable online over the next few months. Objects are in the process of being photographed and catalogued thanks to funding received from the Province of Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (through the Museums & Technology Fund).
